Hey there! Welcome to the Infinite K9 Academy Blog Page! I’ll post here every month and talk about all thing’s dogs and dog training! Look for subjects like canine nutrition, choosing the right breed for you, PUPPIES, canine behavior, different training methods and much more!
This first post, I figured I would give you all a little more insight into who I am, how I got started training dogs and how things have changed over the years.
A Little About Me
So, if you haven’t figured out it already, my name is Cody Bolstad, and I am the Owner and Founder of Infinite K9 Academy.
I am originally from a suburb north of the Twin Cities. Growing up I was very active, playing sports like Hockey, Lacrosse, and Baseball all the way through high school. After graduation, I attended Winona State University where I majored in Business Administration. Once I got my degree, I moved out of state to Wisconsin for a few years, then jumped down to Chicago and eventually made my way back home to Minnesota.
I’ve maintained that active lifestyle by spending time outdoors with my (now) four dogs, hunting/fishing when I can, and even doing long-distance running races like marathons and ultra-marathons. I’ve settled in near where I originally grew up, living with my girlfriend and reconnecting with the place I will always call home.
Where Infinite K9 Began
When I first got introduced to training dogs as a career, I was working a normal 9 to 5 in Chicago, and I wasn’t happy. I didn’t feel like I was making any impact in the world, and I wanted to change that.
I reached out to a few training companies around the city simply looking for volunteer opportunities to give my life a little more meaning. Meeting with one of those companies, I walked in looking to volunteer and walked out with a job offer. From that point forward I was a sponge for all things dog training. I worked my butt off to be the best trainer I could be so that one day I could help ANYONE with ANY issue they might be having with their pup.
In the beginning, the focus was to broaden my skills and learn as much as possible. I quickly developed a specific love towards working with the more severe cases related to anxiety/aggression/reactivity. This is where things really took off and I was able to build the confidence to step out on my own and start my own company.
Infinite K9 Academy Now
Starting my own business was a big scary step, but I knew I could help a lot of people in Chicago. My initial client list was small, but it quickly grew, and I developed some beautiful relationships along the way.
Fast forward a few years and life brought me back home to Minnesota. I had to start over, and the client list wasn’t the biggest out of the gate, but the support was here, and I knew if I could do it in Chicago, I could do it in my home state.
I’ve been back for over a year now and we are busier than ever! Yes, I miss my Chicago clients dearly, but the first year back taught me that no matter where I am, there will always be people needing help and for that I am forever grateful.
I get to wake up every morning with a smile on my face, doing the work I love with some of the nicest people I will ever meet!
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this first post! Keep an eye out for my next post where I will dive into the importance and value of nutrition when it comes to your furry friend. We will talk about the myth's of canine nutrition, why your dog's diet matters, and allergies and intolerances related to diet.
